Is pine tree bark the key to healthier, stronger teeth?

Good news for the 80 percent of us who have resin tooth fillings: a new extract can delay our dentist trips by years. Pine tree bark extract is shown to alter the chemical structure of our teeth, strengthening them, and allowing our fillings to bind to them better. This is achieved due to the compounds in the extract that strengthen dentine, the tissue layer beneath the enamel of the teeth.
Dr. Guido Pauli of the University of Illinois at Chicago says the “weak link in the chain of bonding is the interface between the resin and the dentine. We have clear evidence that our intervention materials change this interface much to the better.” Dr. Pauli is referring to his recent tests that suggest the tree bark extracts can strengthen dentine by as much as ten times. Considering the current lifespan of a resin tooth filling, these new findings suggest a ten-year extension.
Dr. Pauli, and his colleague Dr. Ana Bedran Russo, reached this conclusion after testing the extracts of the Chinese red pine, otherwise known as pinus massoniana. The extract was applied to human molars before examining how they deformed when introduced to various heavy forces. Dr. Pauli and Dr. Russo saw that pine bark extracts strengthened the dentine in teeth, which remained coated on the molars even a year after application. The authors also found that the dentine structure changed after being exposed to pine bark extract. Dentine was more compatible with the resin fillings, binding to them more tightly. “Extract-treated dentine show superior binding to resin fillings,” says Dr. Pauli.
Dr. Pauli is currently working on producing a refined extract that dentists can use on teeth after drilling, to strengthen bonding to the filling. However, he quickly adds, “we are not envisioning a pure compound; the chemistry is too complex.”
The results of this study are published in the Journal of Organic Chemistry.

The implication of these findings

Old dental practices saw people filling cracks in their teeth with metal. This led to the laughable but entirely factual phrase of “metal mouth.” Advancing technologies developed resin-type fillings, which were able to mimic the teeth’s natural color, and were generally safer than their metal counterparts. Still, resin tends to deteriorate after a few years. Replacing these dental fillings would need more drilling, costing healthy dental tissue.
Dentine is the calcified extracellular tissue of the teeth located just below the hard external enamel. “Resins have to bind to the dentin, and that interface is the weak point. This is why the restorations don’t last,” warns Dr. Pauli. By developing this natural preventive measure, it is hoped that people will be able to reduce the number of trips they make to the dentist. Furthermore, the pine bark extract would strengthen tooth tissue, promoting overall health.
Head of the Oral Health Foundation, Dr. Nigel Carter supplements this by saying that “fillings are susceptible to wear-and-tear and can occasionally be in need of repair and replacement. Having fillings which have a longer lifespan could be more comforting to the patient, as the procedure will have to be carried out less often.”
Dannel Ferrira of the University of Mississippi says that Dr. Pauli’s research is “a totally unexpected and novel application. It is really an important breakthrough.” (RELATED: Follow more news on holistic dentistry at HolisticDentistry.news.)

Some other facts to consider

It is estimated that 80 percent of the American population has dental fillings. These are standard restorative dentistry treatments meant to repair minimal tooth decay or fractures. These dental fillings can even improve bite.
Enamel loss is the main reason for tooth decay, leading to an increased sensitivity. This can cause relatively painful sensations. Tooth sensitivity caused by enamel loss is typically treated with a dental filling.

SHOCKING: Woman’s x-ray reveals a pool of cooking oil in her lung

As reported by Daily Mail, when an unnamed 86 year-old woman in Florida went to the hospital with “burning in her stomach and upper chest,” she wasn’t thinking about an unusual medical procedure she had received at least sixty years prior to her emergency room visit. At first, the doctors figured she was simply suffering from acid reflux, but decided to take an x-ray in case something else was amiss. That’s when they discovered an unusual mass in her left lung. But it wasn’t just any normal build up of fluid.
While the elderly patient couldn’t recall the exact year, she figured she was in her early twenties when the doctors had treated her for tuberculosis (TB) by injecting oil into her lungs. According to her attending physician, Dr. Abhilash Koratala, who is also an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Florida, this procedure is called oleothorax and was a common treatment up until the 1950s, when “effective antibiotics to TB were discovered.”
Dr. Koratala described his discovery in the New England Journal of Medicine:
“. . . a treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis, abandoned long ago, that involved the instillation of oil into the pleural space to collapse the involved lung.”  The type of oil used, as reported by Atsjournals.org., would consist of “paraffin or olive oil  . . .  with gomenol added for bactericidal effects.”
The oil, once injected, would usually be absorbed by the lymphatic tissues and blood cells. But the idea of the oleothorax procedure was to collapse the infected lung, to give “it a chance to rest and help kill the TB bacteria.” Following the treatment, which lasted about two years, the patients were supposed to have the oil aspirated out of their lungs. But, as this women experienced, patients either got better or moved on and forgot all about the oil hanging out inside their lung’s pleural cavity.
Oleothorax was an accepted form of treatment since the time of Hippocrates. It’s unfortunate that the natural alternatives for lung health weren’t well-known. Thanks to Sciencedirect.com, here’s a brief comment about oleothorax from physicians at the Charing Cross Hospital and the London Hospital for the Diseases of Heart and Lungs. The year was 1927:
“The injection of oil into the pleural cavity is no new thing. Hippocrates in his beautiful description of his treatment of empyena [also known as pleurisy], advocates the injection of warm oil after aspiration.”
The woman in Florida isn’t the only one with this discovery. Atsjournals.org discusses a 91-year-old patient at the Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, New York who had taken a fall. When physicians ordered a CT scan, they discovered that an oleothorax injection had been performed decades earlier. They also detailed additional complications that can result from this procedure. If the oleothorax ruptures, the leakage of  oil can result in “tuberculous empyema, pleurocutaneous and bronchopleural fistula.” If the oil isn’t removed, fractures of the rib can result from the fatty tissue that envelopes the “surrounding osseous structures.”
It’s clear that there are elderly persons still living who may be carrying around a sack of oil in their lungs. It is important for today’s health care workers to be cognizant of the difficulties resulting from this abandoned medical procedure.

What if a mandatory penicillin vaccine were forced onto every child in America starting?

Currently, the state of California requires all children to be force vaccinated with the entire schedule of CDC “recommended” vaccines in order to be able to exercise their right to attend public school and get an education. It doesn’t matter if any of those children are allergic to mercury, aluminum, polysorbate 80, African green monkey kidney cells, genetically modified bacteria, neomycin (an antibiotic), human serum albumin (other people’s blood), formaldehyde, monosodium glutamate (MSG), bovine extract, gelatin, calf serum, or sodium chloride. Every child must be injected with all of these ingredients, without being tested for allergies against them first, as they are all listed and contained in the CDC’s “excipient” list of vaccine ingredients, in case you have any doubts. How many other U.S. states will soon demand forced vaccination for all children?
Even though penicillin, an antibiotic about 5 to 10% of the U.S. population is allergic to, is not currently a vaccine ingredient, does it matter? Did you know many vaccines are made with a peanut oil extract, but it’s not listed because only “trace amounts” remain? Nearly 2 million U.S. children have severe peanut allergies. Coincidence? Are those trace amounts enough to cause severe allergic reactions? You bet they are, along with unnatural, violent immune system reactions to injecting human blood, monkey kidney cells, cow’s blood, chicken embryo and live viruses combined from different strains.

Extreme vaccine-induced allergic reactions occur when your immune system reacts to foreign proteins and chemicals lodged in muscle tissue or that cross the blood/brain barrier

Penicillin allergy occurs because certain children’s immune systems mistake the drug as a harmful substance, often because the drug is injected with several viruses, bacteria, chemical adjuvants, foreign proteins, human pooled blood samples, and other experimental excipients that have never been tested for safety, allergies or for their neurotoxic effects on humans. Children in America are guinea pigs, including infants and babies still in the womb. Mercury is toxic to humans at any level, even if only eaten or when it touches the skin. Imagine what’s happening when it’s shot directly into body tissue through a needle.
If the human body detects and identifies these chemicals, drugs, and foreign proteins as harmful substances, it develops antibodies to them, even if they are mixed with powerful antibiotics. The second and third time those same drugs and chemicals are injected into the child, the reaction can be violent, brain damaging, central nervous system damaging, and yes, sometimes lethal, just like with penicillin.

Why the massive autism epidemic in 2017? Do the math…

Since 5 to 10% of the U.S. population is allergic to penicillin, if you injected everyone today with a penicillin-loaded vaccine, millions of people would suffer a severe allergic reaction, and many would die. There are more than 300 million Americans. If just 2% had a lethal allergic reaction to a penicillin inoculation, that would equate to about 6 million deaths. That’s how many people were murdered in the Holocaust. Now if you injected 300 million Americans with mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, polysorbate 80, MSG, and African green monkey kidney cells, and just 2% of those people had a severe allergic reaction where their immune systems went into shock and their brains were damaged by the neurotoxins, there would be about 6 million people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
A new government survey of parents suggests that 1 in every 45 children ages 3 through 17 have already been diagnosed with ASD. This number is much higher than the CDC estimate, and for good reason. There are approximately 80 million children in the U.S.A. now. That means there are about 2 million children diagnosed with some form of autism, and many, many others who are suffering from vaccine damage that’s not diagnosed as ASD. When will that number equal or surpass 6 million? Statistics show that every other child in America will have some form of autism by 2032 – that’s 40 million children and just 15 years from right now.

Nearly 4 million American kids today have either severe peanut allergies or autism–wonder why?

The next time those autistic children are injected with the same drugs and chemicals, including the mercury-loaded influenza vaccine, a.k.a. the “flu shot,” specific antibodies will flag the dangerous concoction once injected into muscle tissue and blood, and the chemicals released by this activity cause the signs and symptoms associated with severe and often lethal allergic reactions, just like with penicillin. Get it?
Signs and symptoms of allergic reactions to injecting vaccine ingredients like peanut oil, formaldehyde, MSG, sodium chloride, aluminum, human albumin, aborted fetal cells, monkey kidney cells, gelatin, neomycin and mercury include: skin rash, hives, itching, fever, swelling, shortness of breath, wheezing, anaphylaxis, central nervous system damage, brain damage, nausea, abdominal cramps, rapid pulse, drop in blood pressure, seizures, loss of consciousness, coma, and death. Some severe allergic reactions to vaccines occur days or weeks after the concoction is injected.
Ask your doctor if vaccines contain experimental excipients. Ask the nurse for the vaccine ingredients insert and read every ingredient aloud in front of the doctor and your child. You should be aware of the biggest medical fraud cover up in the history of medicine. Here’s what you can do right now to combat the insanity.

Surprising Downsides Of Being Extremely Intelligent

You might think life would be easier, happier, and infinitely more fulfilling if only you could rack up a few more IQ points.

But that's hardly the case, as evidenced by the 100-plus answers on a Quora thread titled, "When does intelligence become a curse?"

Users wrote about everything from the absurdly high expectations that people place on them to the trouble of constantly being perceived as a braggart.

1. You often think instead of feel

Quora user Marcus Geduld says he generally understands his emotions really well and can tell other people about them — but he never feels the relief of expressing them.

"This is a common problem for smart people, especially ones who are highly verbal. They use words as a smoke screen, and it's all the more effective when their words are true. Less articulate people tend to vent through physicality. They yell, punch, kick, run, scream, sob, dance, jump for joy... I explain. And when I'm done explaining, everything I've explained is still stuck inside me, only now it has a label on it."

Geduld's observation highlights the distinction between cognitive and emotional skills.

Scientists can't say for sure whether and how the two factors are related, but some interesting research suggests that high emotional intelligence compensates for low cognitive ability, at least in the workplace. In other words, it would seem that people who are super smart might not need to rely on emotional skills to solve problems.

2. People frequently expect you to be a top performer

"You are automatically expected to be the best, no matter what," writes Roshna Nazir. "You have nobody to talk to about your weaknesses and insecurities."

What's more, you're panicked about what would happen if you didn't perform up to snuff.

"This makes you so cautious about your failure that you cannot sometimes afford to take risks just fearing that what would happen if you lose," writes Saurabh Mehta.

In an excerpt from "Smart Parenting for Smart Kids" posted on PsychologyToday.com, the authors write that parents are generally most anxious about their kids' achievement when those kids are smart and already doing well in school.

Unfortunately, they write, "sometimes that can lead to too much focus on what they do rather than on who they are."

When you know that someone's just said something completely inaccurate, it's hard to stifle the urge to clarify.

But you've got to be extremely sensitive to the fact that other people may be embarrassed and offended by your actions — or risk losing some friends.

Being intelligent is a bummer, says Raxit Karramreddy, "when you correct people each and every time to a point that they stop hanging around with you or stop talking with you."

3. You tend to overthink things

A common theme in this Quora thread was the pitfalls of spending too much time contemplating and analyzing.

For one thing, you may get maudlin when you try to find the existential significance of every concept and experience. "You realize how moribund everything is and that nothing really means anything. You search for answers and it drives you crazy," writes Akash Ladha.

Indeed, a widely covered study published in 2015 found that verbal intelligence really is linked to worry and rumination.

From a practical standpoint, all that perseveration means smart people may find it impossible to make a choice. Tirthankar Chakraborty writes: "An understanding of the possible ramifications of your decisions, especially the tendency to over-analyze those consequences, makes it so that the decision is never taken."

4. You understand how much you don't know

Being super-intelligent often means appreciating the limits of your own cognition. Try as you might, you'll never be able to learn or understand everything.

Writes Mike Farkas: "Intelligence is a curse when … the more you know, the more you feel the less you know."

Farkas' observation recalls a classic study by Justin Kruger and David Dunning, which found that the less intelligent you are, the more you overestimate your cognitive abilities — and vice versa.

AUSTRALIA: 600-POUND WOMAN GIVES BIRTH TO 40-POUND BABY

Perth | A 600-pound woman has given birth to a 40-pound baby at Perth’s King Edward Memorial Hospital, a record breaking weight that could possibly make the newborn the largest baby ever born, reports the Western Australian Herald this morning.

The baby of gigantic size surprised doctors and staff members who were not fully prepared for such an event but miraculously managed to give birth to the 40-pound (18 kilos) baby who remains in a healthy state, has confirmed a hospital spokesman.
The single mother who’s delivery necessitated a surgical incision in the mother’s abdomen and uterus was done to prevent any harm to the baby and mother’s health and was undergone without any complications.
The doctor who practiced the cesarean section first believed the woman to be pregnant with twins or even triplets.
“I have dealt with other women suffering from obesity before but this birth will stick with me until I die ” he told reporters with a large grin.“I truly believed there was two or even three babies in there” he commented laughingly, “but no, it was just one big sturdy guy. He obviously has a career as a future rugby player” he added with humor.

“I truly believed there was two or even three babies in there” he commented laughingly, “but no, it was just one big sturdy guy. He obviously has a career as a future rugby player” he added with humor.

The largest recorded baby in the world was previously thought to be a South African baby who is believed to have weighted 38 pounds (17.2 kilos) and was born in 1839. The young boy of Zulu origin is reported to have grown to an impressive 7’6 feet or 2.28 meters high before he reached his 18th birthday.

USA: ELDERLY WOMAN VANISHES DURING MAGIC SHOW

Las Vegas| Margaret Manning, a 76-year old woman from Michigan, is reported missing yesterday after apparently vanishing during a magic show at the famous Casino Royale Hotel. The woman was picked from the crowd to take part in a trick in which the neophyte magician made her disappear, but was unable to make her reappear.
The stage magician, a new performer known as Erasmus the Great, placed Ms. Manning in a large box-shaped container made of clear glass, before placing a black velvet sheet over it and “making her disappear”. The elderly woman did vanish from the container, but did not reappear when the magician performed a similar gesture a second time, a few moments later.

The woman’s relatives started screaming in panic when they noticed that something was going wrong, followed by a large part of the audience. The crowd was evacuated after a few minutes, and security agents and and officers of the Las Vegas Police Department were called in to look for the woman. They searched every inch of the building over the following hours but have found no trace of Ms. Manning.
“I don’t get it… there’s a trap door, it’s mechanical, she can’t disappear for real” says the performer, clearly in a state of shock. “My stage assistants say she never came out on the other side, but that’s impossible! It’s like she just vanished!”

A police investigation should help elucidate this mysterious disappearance over time, and reveal what happened to the grandmother after she vanished from the stage.
