Doctor wants children BANNED from Instagram because of its effects on their mental health

“There’s no escaping it,” wrote psychiatrist and journalist Dr. Max Pemberton. “Instagram promotes feelings of inadequacy and anxiety, and should be banned for children under the age of 18.” Those were the words Pemberton chose to end his tirade against social media giant Instagram. Not one to mince his words, the doctor called the site a “the worst social media platform for youngsters’ mental health” in his article for TheDailyMail.co.uk.
According to Pemberton, Instagram is especially detrimental to the mental health of teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18 because this period is when they look to outside sources in forming their identities. Beyond themselves and their friends, they turn to other people to aid them in developing their sense of self-worth. If they look towards social media platforms such as Instagram, however, then that search for identity becomes more difficult, and even jeopardized.
“The site is awash with people showing off — posting images of their supposedly perfect lives,” Pemberton stated. The constant bombardment of imagery containing “fun holidays, meals and parties” puts an unbelievable amount of pressure on the easily impressionable youth. While adults on Instagram can take everything they see with a grain of salt, younger people struggle to discern the truth from what is simply being fabricated for likes and views. “With the exposure and scrutiny that sites like this bring, their peers feel under pressure to present overhyped versions of their own lives.” (Related: Is Social Media Destroying or Building Self Esteem?)
Of the wealthy or those who hobnob with the wealthy and post about their exploits on Instagram, Pemberton criticized them as well. “They bombard followers with pictures of unspeakably glamorous nights out, diamond jewellery, designer shoes and exotic holidays. It is a revolting orgy of brash consumerism, teaching youngsters that in order to be seen as successful, they must look, dress and behave in a certain way,” he stated.
That’s why Pemberton is all for banning children and teenagers from Instagram. To him, Instagram has nothing meaningful to offer them apart from shallow, superficial, and ultimately damaging views of themselves. It’s a sentiment that numerous posters shared in the comments section.
“All Instagram does for children is make them believe that looks and money are the most important things in the world. I won’t let my children on it,” posted the user rebrebrobs. Another user with the screen name DD concurred and wrote: “I’m not sure that there is any benefit in social media of any sort.”
In fact, a report by the Royal Society for Public Health in the UK ranked Instagram as the worst social networking app for the mental health of young people. Researchers surveyed nearly 1,500 young people aged 14 to 24 for their study, and the response on Instagram turned out largely negative.

Eating clean, unprocessed foods is now a dangerous “cult,” declares idiotic mainstream media (with a little help from the dirty diary industry)

As more people are turning their back to dairy and other processed foods, the National Osteoporosis Society, subsidized by the milk industry, has now declared clean eating to be a dangerous “cult” and “ticking time bomb” that could leave young people with weak bones.
For decades, the milk industry has made us believe that milk is crucial for our health. Most of us have been brought up with the idea our teeth and bones will crumble if we don’t drink three big glasses of calcium-rich milk every day.
Though scientific research has linked milk consumption to cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, heart diseases, allergies, and a host of other diseases, governments and celebrity shills with thick milk mustaches keep telling us that milk is essential to our health. These celebrities, however, forget to tell you that they were paid to make these statements, hiding the dangers lurking behind these hip milk mustaches.
In their latest attempt to push antibiotic- and hormone-rich dairy products onto the people, the mainstream media is spreading fears to spook people into believing healthy dietary choices that reject processed foods are dangerous.
Of all the rumors the fake media, which depends on the advertising money of the dairy industry, has spit into the world, this one breaks all the records. Trying to convince people that eating fresh, whole foods is dangerous is just insane.

Fake media associates poor diet with clean food

People who avoid refined sugar, hormone- and antibiotic-laced milk, and pesticide-laden processed foods have been called “cultists” that jeopardize their health through fashionable diet trends.
“A cult of clean eating is a ‘ticking time bomb’ that could leave young people with weak bones,” the National Osteoporosis Society has warned. “The diets have become increasingly fashionable, and are associated with celebrities, who have boasted how they have cut out gluten, dairy, grains, and refined sugars,” read a recent article published by the Telegraph.
If we believe the National Osteoporosis Society’s survey and the Telegraph’s article — which is nothing more than a propaganda piece for the milk industry — then clean food and people or celebrities promoting this lifestyle are the bad guys, wreaking havoc on your health.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Professor Susan Lanham-New, Clinical Advisor to the National Osteoporosis Society and Professor of Nutrition at the University of Surrey, noted that if there is no urgent action taken to encourage young adults to incorporate all food groups into their diet and avoid clean eating regimes, we are facing a future where broken bones will become the norm.
And it is not just the Telegraph who has been bought by the milk industry to spread this lie. The fake claim has also made the headlines of many other news sources. They all spread the same message, saying dairy products are the best source of calcium and that young people who aren’t consuming substantial amounts of dairy products are putting themselves at risk of developing weak bones and osteoporosis later in life.
They even go as far as to blame social media, blogs, vlogs, and websites such as Natural News for spreading disinformation about dairy and promoting these so-called unhealthy, clean eating diets among the younger generation.
Don’t be fooled by these statements and headlines. Milk isn’t the best source of calcium out there. Many other foods contain as much or even more calcium than milk. Think of foods such as fish, nuts, seeds, leafy greens, and dairy alternatives fortified with calcium.

Facebook and Google use casino-style brain manipulation tactics to ADDICT users to their mobile apps

If you’re someone who ‘can’t live without’ social media or know someone like that, there is science behind the addiction, and while sinister, most people who can’t stop checking Facebook or Google have no idea how they became so hooked.
It’s a mind technique the social media giants use to make us feel as though we can’t live without them, according to a former Google product manager.
As reported by the UK’s Daily Mail, the tactics are underhanded and designed to get our brains hooked on checking our smartphones, says Tristan Harris, who noted that technology companies are using mind techniques similar to those used by casinos. These techniques are meant to addict people to their phones and the constant access to social media content.
Harris said the technique is employed by computer programmers and is called “brain hacking.” He noted further that the techniques are essentially damaging the minds of future generations. “This thing is a slot machine,” Harris told CBS News in an interview, adding that the tech world would prefer that everyone was kept in the dark about brain hacking.
“Every time I check my phone, I’m playing the slot machine to see, ‘What did I get?’ This is one way to hijack people’s minds and create a habit, to form a habit. What you do is you make it so when someone pulls a lever, sometimes they get a reward, an exciting reward. And it turns out that this design technique can be embedded inside all of these products.”
The rewards include “likes” to the things you post, cute emojis included in text messages and a growing number of followers. Google, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms all take advantage of “brain hacking.”
Harris said programmers have an entire “playbook of techniques” they utilize to get people using the product – the apps, in this case, as well as the social media sites – for as long and as often as possible. (RELATED: Facebook could face child pornography charges in Britain)
One of the more popular messaging services – if not the most popular right now – for tweeners and teenagers is Snapchat. The app comes with a feature, known as “streaks” that indicates the number of days the user has sent messages back and forth. After awhile, kids begin to think they don’t want to lose their streak, so if they are going to be away from Snapchat for a while – say, on a vacation with parents – they will often give their password to friends who will then log in and help them continue their streak with the other person.
“And so you could ask when these features are being designed, are they designed to most help people live their lives? Or are they being designed because they’re best at hooking people to use the product?” Harris said.
In the end, he said, the titans of Silicon Valley may or may not know they are shaping the thoughts, feelings and actions of hundreds of millions of people – though it is a safer bet to assume they know exactly what they’re doing.
“There’s always this narrative that technology’s neutral. And it’s up to us to choose how we use it. This is just not true,” Harris said.
Technology isn’t at all “neutral,” he insisted. Apps are designed in particular ways to make users engage in them for as long as possible, because that’s how tech-media companies like Facebook and Google make their billions.
Tech insiders don’t normally reveal such secrets, but Harris felt a need to speak out. Just a few years ago he was working in Silicon Valley living the dream. He dropped out of a master’s degree program at Stanford University to launch a tech start-up, which was bought out by Google four years later, with the company offering him a position as a product manager. He started feeling overwhelmed while there. (RELATED: Facebook To Become Left-Wing Propaganda Echo Chamber With Orwellian Plan To Label Independent Journalism “Fake”)
In the end, he wrote a 144-page “manifesto” which concluded that a handful of techies at just a few companies are influencing the thoughts and actions of a billion people, thus “weakening’ personal relationships and “destroying our kids’ ability to focus.” Find more news about the negative influence of technology on human lives at GLITCH.news.
